A SECOND Labour MP has been suspended from the party for being a member of a WhatsApp group with highly-offensive messages. Oliver Ryan lost the whip tonight over his failure to condemn his colleague Andrew Gwynne's foul-mouthed texts. Gwynne was sacked as a health minister over the weekend after suggesting a pensioner should die. He also said that somebody "sounds Jewish" and that they could be a member of the Israeli spy agency Mossad.

It since emerged that Ryan - the new MP for Burnley - was also a member of the group Trigger Me Timbers but did not speak out. A Labour Party spokesman said: "As part of our WhatsApp group investigation, Oliver Ryan has been administratively suspended as a member of the Labour Party. "As soon as this group was brought to our attention, a thorough investigation was immediately launched and this process is ongoing in line with the Labour Party's rules and procedures.
