A major website used by many to access pornography has abruptly closed down. Marques Gunter, the CEO and founder of MyVidster, announced that the popular social video sharing and bookmarking site had been shut down over the weekend. In a bizarre message on the website's homepage, Gunter wrote, 'I recently decided to shut MyVidster down. I have been running this site for over 18 years.'. He continued, 'I have scarficed (sic) my life for MyV and I almost died last year doing so.

'Due to the endless attacks, please communte (sic) with us on our X account to insure that we have received it. Thank you, Marques.'. He then added, 'PS, I know of the gammercal (sic) errors, but I really do not give a f**k.'. MyVidster was used to share and bookmark videos from various websites. Although it was not officially a porn site, it was used by many to save and view pornography, much in the same way that Tumblr previously was.

Video sharing website MyVidster abruptly shut down over the weekend, sending social media into a frenzy. Fans on social media went into meltdown mode after the news of MyVidster closing down was announced. 'Damn... MyVidster really gone. Had so much good porn saved on there that I'll never find again... First Tumblr... now them,' one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter. A second wrote, 'Myvidster is officially gone?!! Pour some liquor out for my morning, mid course and post college homework rituals.'.

'MyVidster shutting down is infinitely worse than the TikTok ban,' added a third. A fourth commented, 'PlayStation is down and now MyVidster is permanently gone taking with it the years of saved videos I had... I am not ok.'. Gunter has since addressed the shut down in a video posted to X, indicating that MyVidster may return soon with a brand new search engine. 'Sorry for the chaos lately. We will have a solution way before the 60 day deadline. We honor everything we say and do. Our new search engine will be back online that is so much better than the legacy one,' he wrote.

Gunter also offered his 'sincerest apologies' for the downtime and said that premium paying members would still be able to access MyVidster for the time being. 'I don't want this to be interpreted as a money grab, we just need to fix a lot of things,' he stressed. MyVidster is far from the only online platform that allows sexually-explicit content. Nudity is currently permitted on Tumblr, while hardcore pornography is available on X. Sexually explicit content has notoriously existed on X since before Elon Musk took ownership in 2022, but was not officially permitted until last year.

MyVidster's shut down comes as the Playstation Network experienced a multi-hour outage, leaving gamers unable to play. Over the weekend, Sony's PSN status page showed that account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and the PlayStation Direct website were all dealing with issues. As a result, gamers have been left unable to play online aspects of games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto and Marvel Rivals.
