Three decades after they first got together, the Spice Girls are helping other music Wannabes – on TV in South Korea. I can reveal Emma Bunton and Mel B secretly flew to Seoul in November to take part in a reality show where they sang with K-pop idols. The series called Kpopped, which is expected to air later this year, will feature a different Western act in each of the eight episodes, collaborating with big names from the world of K-pop to re-imagine one of their biggest hits.

I personally feel like the Spice Girls back catalogue is already top tier, so I’m not sure turning any of them into a high-octane banger will do many favours. One of the other big names taking part will be Eighties legend Boy George, so they are clearly pushing the boat out when it comes to star power. A music insider said: “A Spice Girls reunion is a way off. “So having Emma and Mel back on stage singing a Spice Girls song together might be the closest fans get to a comeback, even though it will be with K-pop stars rather than Geri Horner, Melanie C and Victoria Beckham.

“They flew to South Korea at the end of last year and were on set for quite a few days as they battled it out with other pop veterans. “With them alone on board, it is a big show. But there’s also Boy George and loads of other chart-topping stars, which will be enough to encourage people to tune in.”. Lionel Richie is an executive producer on the Apple TV+ show, which will also feature rapper Megan Thee Stallion and Gangnam Style singer Psy.
Next year will mark three decades since Spice Girls released their debut album Spice, and Melanie C reckons a reunion could well be on the cards. She said earlier this month: “There has to be something befitting of 30 years since Wannabe. Once a Spice Girl, always a Spice Girl. “We all feel like that. But we now are getting together because we know if we’re going to do anything, we have to start planning things to get things right.”.
