As fans continue to use Tom Brady's success as the bar for Patrick Mahomes, Stephen A. Smith revealed how the Chiefs star could finally set himself out of the consensus GOAT's shadow. Brady's seven Super Bowl rings to Mahomes' three remain the evergreen argument in the greatest quarterback discussion.
However, during Wednesday's episode of First Take, Smith claimed that a threepeat would help Mahomes' case greatly. 'It's never been done in the history of football,' Smith said when asked about the feat. After noting the lack of roughness in today's NFL, Smith emphasized how football is still the most physical sport.
'To be in this era, with these outstanding athletes, the way the game has evolved and the kind of athletes you have to go up against,' Smith laid out. 'To threepeat as a Super Bowl champion, especially when you consider it's the same quarterback, the same tight end, the same head coach, it's the same defensive coordinator,' he added. 'When you look at these guys, somehow, someway, you would think at some point somebody would answer the call.'.
