The PGA Tour is set to move its Genesis Invitational tournament down south after the deadly wildfires raging through the city of Los Angeles forced it to be relocated from its traditional venue of Riviera Country Club. The Tour made the decision to move the signature event away from Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, where it has been held a total of 60 times, after wildfires left the city ravaged.

The Genesis Invitational was slated to be hosted by Tiger Woods between February 13 and February 16 at the iconic golf course located in Pacific Palisades. However, the $20million tournament is now set to be moved south to the infamous Torrey Pines in San Diego, according to Sports Illustrated, as the exclusive Pacific Palisades enclave lies devastated by the infernos over the past two weeks.

The move has yet to be confirmed by the PGA Tour but both Sports Illustrated and Golfweek reported the relocation as pending. Torrey Pines hosts the Farmers Insurance Open this week, which a number of stars, including Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa, have withdrawn from.

The PGA Tour moved Tiger Woods' Genesis Invitational due to the Los Angeles wildfires. Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego has reportedly been chosen as the replacement venue. Other venues, including PGA West near Palm Springs and TPC Scottsdale, which hosts the WM Phoenix Open the week prior to the Genesis, are said to have been considered as alternate venues.

TPC Scottsdale located in Arizona had first been mooted as a potential replacement venue by Golf Digest, with it suggested the course could be in line to pull double duty with the WM Phoenix Open scheduled to be held on the Stadium Course the week prior.
