A STUNNING new stadium is set to be built in a city much-loved by Brits travelling to Spain. CF Intercity have secured the rights to build a 20,000-seater ground in Alicante. Intercity president Salvador Marti believes it will cost the club around £42million to build. The 100,000 square metres of land formerly housed a ceramics factory. Intercity currently plays its home matches at the 2,000-capacity Estadio Antonio Solana.

An ambitious sports and cultural leisure complex will also be built to help secure an economic hub for Valencian community. The land is strategically located, close to all motorway connections, five minutes from the centre of Alicante and ten minutes from the airport. In 2024, 421,321 Brits travelled to Alicante, according to Olive Press News Spain. Intercity currently competes in the third-tier Primera Federacion and is Spain’s first publicly listed football club.
