Sky is continuing its push to get more homes to switch to streaming with a new Glass TV announced last week. This latest gadget, which doesn't need a dish to work, features an improved Quantum Dot 4K display for brighter visuals and a better soundbar that boosts the audio around your living room without needing a bunch of separate speakers. Sky Glass Gen 2 is on sale now with prices - including premium channels and Netflix access - starting from £29 per month. That sounds pretty reasonable, but things could get even more enticing later this year.

SEE THE SKY GLASS 2 DEAL HERE. During its showcase in London, the Sky team also confirmed the upcoming release of another new telly called Sky Glass Air. Although it's not quite as feature-packed as its sibling, it will be cheaper. "Later this year, Sky will launch Sky Glass Air, the smarter TV for less," Sky confirmed. Although pricing is yet to be confirmed, we do know this telly will also get a Quantum Dot 4K display and will come in three sizes including a 43”, 55” and 65”.

Carbon Grey, Cotton White and Sea Green colours will also be available at launch and just like Sky Glass Gen 2 it will offer full access to live and on-demand telly via a broadband connection. Personalised recommendations, online recording via the Playlists function and integration with apps such as Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+ are also expected. If Sky can offer this screen at a cheap price it could be an enticing option for those who don't want - or can't fit a dish to their walls.

Mirror Online was at the launch event and has already seen this new Air screen in the flesh. It looks decent enough and is also much lighter and more portable than Sky Glass Gen 2. We will hopefully have more details soon so watch this space. “We built Sky Glass as a brilliantly simple way for people to watch TV, making it easier to find the things they love from Sky and streaming apps," said Fraser Stirling, Global Chief Product Officer for Comcast and Sky.
