WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Unforgotten. Unforgotten star Sanjeev Bhaskar has paid tribute to the newcomers who left him “blown away”. Unforgotten has been missing from ITV ’s schedule for the past two years following the introduction of DCI Jessica James (played by Sinead Keenan) who replaced DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker) after her shocking death. Fast-forward to present day and James’ once frosty relationship with partner DCI Sunil “Sunny” Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) is a far more peaceful one with them now facing another gruelling case together.

This time around, a body shows up at Whitney Marsh, with the investigation leading to four people who are linked to the murder in some way. The Wticher’s MyAnna Buring is behind outspoken political commentator Melinda Ricci, Martin “Marty” Baines, an autistic man who lives with his mum, is portrayed by Maximilian Fairley, Shantaram actor Elham Ehsas plays Afghan refugee Asif Syed and COBRA star Victoria Hamilton is history lecturer Juliet Cooper.

Ahead of season six making its debut, original star Bhaskar opened up to ITV on what it was like working with the guest stars. “It was just fantastic. It’s one of the joys of this series”, he began. “MyAnna Buring and Max Fairley – I think it was Max’s first job. Elham Ehsas, Victoria Hamilton. “It’s a privilege for me to watch them work, just be sharing scenes with them, but to be sitting a foot away from them, having to convey quite complex things, and watching them do it with such grace and skill.

Continuing to sing their praises, Bhaskar said: “I remember that feeling, especially in series one, sitting across from these exalted stars – it was like having the best seat in the theatre. You can see everything.”. “The four of them, this time, with all the supporting cast behind them, were fantastic. “You know, it’s lovely to initially see and hear real voices and see real people embodying these characters that you’ve read about on the page.
