Whipping up breakfast can often seem like a chore, but air fryers have revolutionised morning routines with their easy and healthier cooking methods. These nifty gadgets are not only versatile but can also help slash your energy bills. Chef Sam Stern demonstrated back in November how you can whip up the perfect boiled egg using an air fryer, claiming they turn out "exactly the same" as the ones done the traditional way. To achieve this, eggs are left to cook in their shells for about eight and a half minutes in the air fryer, then dunked into ice water for two minutes before peeling to reveal a deliciously soft, runny centre.

Despite the convenience, some argue that old-school methods are superior for cooking eggs. The experts at CPD Online College have pointed out that eggs are one of the few foods that might not fare well in the trendy appliance, saying: "Although it is safe to cook eggs in an air fryer, the taste and texture may not be desirable. For example, boiled eggs may become chewy and rubbery when cooked in an air fryer.".

Echoing this sentiment, the culinary experts at BBC Good Food have noted that hard-boiled eggs can end up with a less-than-appealing rubbery texture and recommend other techniques for better outcomes. However, they do concede that if you're keen on giving air fryer eggs a go, cooking a medium-sized egg straight from the fridge at 125°C for ten minutes should yield an egg that's good enough to eat, reports the Express.
