The rescheduled Merseyside derby finally takes place on Wednesday night as Everton host Liverpool in the Premier League. The game was originally set to take place in December but was postponed due to adverse weather conditions during Storm Darragh. It is the final Merseyside derby ever to be held at Goodison Park so will be an emotional time and Everton would love to go out on a high, harming Liverpool’s title chances in the process.

The Reds are coming off a shock FA Cup defeat to Plymouth on Sunday, while the Toffees were also ousted from the competition but in far less surprising fashion, beaten by Bournemouth. David Moyes’ team may have lost to the Cherries but they have picked up in form since he returned as manager, replacing Sean Dyche. Three Premier League wins on the spin have dragged the Toffees away from the relegation scrap, now nine points clear of 18th-place Leicester.

Liverpool go into the game six points clear at the top of the table, and with this their game in hand over their rivals, extending that to nine points would seem to be very hard to overcome. The match kicks off at 7.30pm on Wednesday 12 February at Goodison Park. The game is being shown live on TNT Sports 1, with coverage starting at 6.30pm. Streaming is available on Discovery+. Everton are still struggling with a string of injury problems, with Dwight McNeil, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja, Youssef Ramalho Chermiti and Seamus Coleman all still out. Vitalii Mykolenko has been a doubt but Moyes says ‘hopefully’ he’ll be available.

Liverpool are in pretty good shape, with just Joe Gomez ruled out due to a hamstring problem. Trent Alexander-Arnold remains a concern but has returned to training and is likely to be involved. 5/1 Everton. 13/5 Draw. 2/5 Liverpool.
