Liverpool are without in-form forward Cody Gakpo for Sunday’s Premier League game against Wolves at Anfield. The Dutch international has enjoyed a successful second season at the club and is enjoying a good run of form with four goals and an assist in his last six appearances. Gakpo started in Wednesday’s fiery Merseyside derby against Everton but was brought off after 69 minutes having seemingly picked up a knock.

Speaking before Sunday’s match, Arne Slot confirmed that Gakpo was a doubt for the clash but did not explain the exact nature of the forward’s injury. ‘We saw Trent [Alexander-Arnold], of course, being able to play,’ Slot said at his press conference on Friday.

‘It was the intention to play around half an hour, I think he played somewhere around half an hour, so he will be training with us again. ‘Joe Gomez is out and Tyler Morton is out. ‘Cody is a bit of a doubt as well, so let’s wait [to see] how he is today. I had to take him off because of an injury, because he got a knock, so let’s see how he is today.’.
