Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan has broken his silence with a bizarre excuse for why he was booed by WWE fans during the company's Netflix launch at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. WWE marked a huge change in the company when they moved their broadcasting to Netflix, with the partnership with a major show on January 6 - the first episode of RAW of the year. It featured a number of major stars, from the likes of The Rock, John Cena and Cody Rhodes, while the likes of CM Punk and Rhea Ripley were also in action.
Also in the show, Hogan, who was the most synonymous name with WWE having been with the company on and off from the 1980s to well into the 21st century. Taking to the stage, he spoke on his journey with WWE and promoted the Netflix launch, but was booed by fans in attendance throughout an award promo that lasted several minutes. Hogan has now given an eyebrow-raising explanation for why he thinks that might have been, speaking on the Pat McAfee show.
Hulk Hogan has offered a bizarre excuse for why he was booed on WWE's Netflix deut. Hogan, a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, received a stern reception when taking to the stage in LA. He has been synonymous with WWE for a number of years, but his run has included controversy on occasion. 'You've got to realise, the last time I ran hard in LA, I was a bad guy, I was Hollywood Hogan,' Hogan said. 'I was riding dirty with the boys. You know, [Kevin] Nash and [Scott] Hall, and we're spray-painting people and we're crotch-chopping everybody.
'It started out with the Too Sweet stuff. So the last time I was there, I was a heel, but I think the politics had a whole lot to do with it, like you said.'. Host McAfee, who also works as a commentator on RAW, said there could have been 'other stuff' involved, to which Hogan replied : 'Yes, of course, you do slip and fall a couple of times.'. Hogan was a vocal supporter of United States president Donald Trump during his campaign, though it has been suggested that that wasn't to blame for the reaction.
Fellow WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker also supported Trump, but was cheered when he appeared. Just before Hogan left WWE in July 2015, a sex tape was leaked that saw Hogan repeatedly using racial slur 'n*****', and he also voiced his displeasure at his daughter dating a black man. WWE said they were 'committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds' when Hogan departed, though his lawyer claimed he chose to resign.
