About 75,000 federal workers have accepted President Donald Trump’s buyout program, which is far short of the White House’s goals for the effort to cull the federal workforce.
Pinover also said that the program closed at 7 p.m. “This program was carefully designed, thoroughly vetted, and provides generous benefits so federal workers can plan for their futures,” she said.
On Wednesday, a federal judge lifted a pause on the program, which allowed federal employees to be paid until September 30 if they resign by a specific date.
As many as 3.75 percent of the U.S.’s two million federal employees have accepted the buyout, far short of the projected White House estimate of five to 10 percent.
