Fireworks at a celebration -- image credit: Malcolm Owen. Thanks for being with AppleInsider in 2024, the year of the Apple Vision Pro and Apple Intelligence. Have a very good 2025 — which promises to be a rollercoaster for Apple. This time last year we were awaiting the release of the Apple Vision Pro and wondering whether it would revolutionize the world, or prove to be a costly flop. Nearly twelve months on, we still don't know, but it feels as we're at the beginning of something great.
Apple Vision Pro was unusual in that it wasn't just a device, it was a whole new platform for Apple. And, perhaps surprisingly, it looks as if we may get yet another one in 2025. If we do, it will be a platform based around the home. Apple is said to be looking at releasing its own cameras, not to mention the expected Home Hub, but as ever, we'll have to wait to see.
What we can be certain of is that this is the year of the iPhone 17 range — and this could be a significant update. While the iPhone 16 was said to be built for Apple Intelligence, the iPhone 17 will be the first to be released since the AI service became available.
Or at least, it will be the first annual update to the whole iPhone range, as we're expecting the iPhone SE 4 to come out around March 2025. It's likely that we'll see an updated MacBook Air with an M4 processor, too, and recent rumors suggest it may come early in 2025.
