Martin Clunes' 28 year love story with his TV producer Philippa has been revealed, after his ex wife's shocking story about the end of their marriage. The Men Behaving Badly's first wife Lucy Aston has revealed what she claims is the harsh comment that sparked the end of their marriage in 1993. Whilst his first marriage only lasted three years, Martin has been married to his second wife Phillippa Braithwaite since 1997. The couple met at work, with Phillippa a talented TV and film producer who has worked on major projects like the Gwyneth Paltrow movie Sliding Doors during her 30 year career. Martin and Phillippa, who share a 25-year-old daughter Emily, now live on a working farm in Dorset and regular collaborate on TV projects, with Philippa having producer credits on Martin's hit TV shows Doc Martin and his new drama Out There.

And it was during a work trip in the nineties that the actor made his big move. Martin Clunes' 28 year love story with his TV producer Philippa has been revealed, after his ex wife's shocking revelation about the end of their marriage. The Men Behaving Badly's first wife Lucy Aston has revealed what she claims is the harsh comment that sparked the end of their marriage in 1993. Martin made the ultimate romantic gesture for the 23rd anniversary of their engagement in Hawaii.

The actor proposed in the romantic location when Phillippa flew out to join him during a filming trip for a holiday programme. 'I'd done San Francisco and Hawaii on the same trip and she came out at the end of the Hawaii shoot,' he told the Irish News. 'It was the longest we'd been apart, and I missed her so much that I proposed, while she was really jet lagged and in such a strange place,' Martin gushed.

The couple returned to Hawaii 23 years later and stayed at the hotel where he had got down on one knee. Although the Men Behaving Badly star has said he and his first wife Lucy are now 'friends', he has previously described that marriage as 'rotten'. Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2008, he said: 'I don't know if I was searching for anything. Maybe I was. I kind of found it without looking. 'When I met Philippa I was coming out of a rotten marriage, and was very resistant to the idea of getting involved again.'.

Whilst his first marriage only lasted three years, Martin has been married to his second wife Phillippa Braithwaite since 1997. Martin and Philippa are parents to daughter Emily, who was born in 1999 and now works as a manager for the Chedington Equestrian Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre. Martin's most recent acting role is in the drama Out There, which is currently showing on ITV. He will next appear in Neil & Martin’s Bon Voyage, a travelogue miniseries with his former Men Behaving Badly co-star Neil Morrissey.
