Coronation Street have revealed Lauren Bolton's future - amid a string of big soap exits. A number of stars have departed or will be leaving the soap in the coming months. Most have left of their own accord, including the likes of Helen Worth, who plays Gail Platt, and Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw.
Bethany Platt star Lucy Fallon will be taking a break from the show whilst she goes on maternity leave, whilst Colson Smith, who stars as Craig Tinker, has been axed and Sue Devaney's character Debbie Webster will leave in sad scenes next year. Tonight, the fate of another big character was seemingly confirmed as Lauren Bolton faced the court. She has been put on trial for killing her former lover and father of her child Joel Deering. Fans of the show will remember Joel attacked Lauren and left her for dead, before she ended up welcoming his baby into the world.
In shock scenes, it was revealed that Lauren had attacked and killed Joel - despite many other characters being suspects. Whilst Max initially covered for her, it was later confirmed that Lauren wielded the deadly blow. Tonight, Lauren was found not guilty in the murder of Joel, but will she stay on the Cobbles for good?.
