It’s no secret that Aldi has low prices, with the German retailer recently been crowned the UK’s cheapest supermarket of 2024. But it turns out there are several ways you can nab groceries from Aldi for even less, which will reduce the cost of your weekly shop.

According to Julie Ashfield, the managing director of buying at the supermarket, you can get products for 75% off if you do your shopping on certain days. The insider claims that you just have to keep track of the sell-by dates on the food and drink, as this will impact when you can find the best bargains.

Julie explains: ‘All of our UK stores mark down perishable products by 75% on their last day of shelf life, including our chilled products such as meat and dairy.’. So if you were to go into Aldi on a certain day, you could take a look at the sell-by and use-by dates on packets, to get an idea of when the supermarket will be reducing the price of items and come back to get it cheaper.

And in a bid to avoid food waste, the retailer also marks items with imperfect outer packaging down by 30%, so look out for any packets or boxes that aren’t looking their best, as it could save you some cash. Other ways to nab a bargain include taking advantage of the Super Weekly Offers which change in store each week, allowing customers to try something new at a low price.
