ALDI lovers can rejoice as the chain is due to open nine new locations in the UK this year. This comes as the bargain food retailer revealed it will pump a huge £650million investment into the country. Aldi has focused its expansion plans on the capital as London will house these nine new stores.

The chain will invest £55million into the capital alone. Aldi has revealed where four of the new stores for 2025 will be. Two of these branches will greet customers in the city's South West area. These stores will pop up for savvy shoppers in Wimbledon and Fulham Broadway.

Two other shops will also open within the M25 in Orpington and Caterham, in Surrey. Aldi's major investment into London won't just include new shops. The chain will also use this money to renovate and upgrade some of its existing locations in the capital.

This will include an extension to its Colindale store, in North West London. Savvy shoppers without an Aldi nearby them should not fret just yet as the chain revealed extraordinary long-term plans. Aldi plans to open another 100 shops in London, creating around 3,500 jobs.

The chain's Managing Director of National Real Estate, Jonathan Neale, revealed why the company was expanding rapidly, in a statement. He said: “We strongly believe that everyone in Britain should have access to high quality food at our unbeatable Aldi prices.

"But we know that there are still thousands of shoppers in the capital that don’t yet have access to an Aldi nearby.". “We don’t think it’s fair that so many people still have to make do with big prices at other supermarkets, which is why London continues to be a real focus for us as we work to bring even more Aldi stores to shoppers across the capital.”.
