BBC iPlayer and BBC One are set to welcome Amandaland, a comedy series featuring Lucy Punch reprising her role as the high-strung mother, Amanda. Following the events of Motherland, Amanda finds herself navigating the challenges of raising teenagers after relocating to South Harlesden in London. The spin-off, commissioned in summer 2024, sees several original cast members from Motherland returning to their roles. Comprising six episodes, the series will be available as a boxset on BBC iPlayer from February 5.

The show's synopsis reveals: "With both Manus and Georgie now at secondary school, Amanda has to try and get her head around raising teenagers, dealing with modern motherhood horrors like teenage drinking, fake Instagram accounts and eco anxiety. Not even a woman as certain of her parenting as Amanda can deal with these nightmares alone.". Adding to Amanda's woes is her mother Felicity, who is always present and in denial about her loneliness. Here's everything you need to know about the cast.

Lucy Punch is a familiar face for her roles in hits like Hot Fuzz, Bad Teacher and A Series of Unfortunate Events. The 47 year old English actress was a member of the National Youth Theatre from 1993 to 1997. Her acting career kicked off with The New Adventures of Robin Hood in 1998. She's also known for her brief relationship with actor and film director James D'Arcy after meeting on the set of Come Together in 2002.

Punch is a proud mum to her son Rex, born in July 2015. Tired of being typecast as "posh idiots" back home, she moved to the US. She remarked, "I was like: ‘This is boring. I know I can do more than this.’ She has now resided in Los Angeles for over fifteen years. Joanna Lumley is set to dazzle once again as Amanda's mother. At 78 years old, this British star's talents range from acting to presenting, not forgetting her glamour days as a model.

Immortalised as Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous, Lumley also graced our screens in Coronation Street and The New Avengers. Fashionistas might recall her modelling stint in the swinging 60s, often lensed by photographer Brian Duffy. Recognised for her influence, Lumley made BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour list of the 100 most influential women in the UK in February 2013. This formidable lady welcomed a son with photographer Michael Claydon in 1967, briefly married Jeremy Lloyd, and in 1986, tied the knot with conductor Stephen Barlow.

Philippa Dunne, an Irish actress and writer known for her work on The Walshes, returns to her role as Anne. She's also recognised for portraying Geraldine Devlin in Derry Girls and Ria in This Is Going to Hurt. Dunne, who is married and welcomed a child in 2020, saw her offspring star as Anne's daughter Niamh in Motherland. Samuel Anderson, a 42 year old English actor, plays Mal. He's celebrated for his roles as Crowther in The History Boys and Ross Kirk in Emmerdale, with additional credits in Doctor Who and Trollied.

Della is portrayed by Siobhan McSweeney, a 45 year old Irish actress and presenter famed for playing Sister Michael in Derry Girls. Before turning to acting, she pursued a science degree at University College Cork. Beyond acting, she presents The Great Pottery Throw Down. In 2019, she experienced personal trauma when her London flat caught fire due to a dislodged adaptor. Although she was out at the time, she confessed to developing anxiety following the incident.

Rochenda Sandall, a 35 year old British actress, takes on the role of Fi. Known for her portrayal of Lisa McQueen in Line of Duty, viewers may also recognise her as Detective Constable Vanessa Warren in Criminal: UK. It was during this show that she met fellow actor Mark Stanley, with whom she is reported to have been in a long-term relationship. The role of JJ is brought to life by Ekow Quartey, a 34 year old British actor. Quartey is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bem in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

To this day, the character remains a fan favourite for his profound one-liners, including the memorable: "It's like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands.". Quartey has since appeared in notable productions such as Becoming Elizabeth and This Way Up. Johannes is played by none other than Peter Serafinowicz, a 52 year old English actor and comedian. Serafinowicz is notably recognized for lending his voice to the character of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

His film credits also include playing Pete in Shaun of the Dead and Garthan Saal in Guardians of the Galaxy. In addition to his acting career, Serafinowicz created and starred in the comedy shows Look Around You and The Peter Serafinowicz Show. He is married to actress Sarah Alexander and has a son and daughter. Amandaland is available to stream as a boxset on BBC iPlayer starting February 5. Don't miss out on the biggest soaps gossip!
