Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou and captain Son Heung-min both agreed the team were "too passive" in their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the North London Derby. Spurs took the lead at the Emirates through Son but allowed the Gunners to quickly take charge of the contest as goals from Gabriel Magalhaes and Leandro Trossard flipped the game on its head.

Arsenal dominated the ball and could have scored more, with Spurs restricted to just two shots on target on a disappointing night. Postecoglou was a glum figure after the game, with his side now 13th in the Premier League table after 11 defeats. He made no excuses for his team, calling their display "unacceptable" and admitted they didn't meet expectations.

"Nowhere near good enough, especially in the first half," he told TNT Sports. "We were too passive. We let Arsenal dictate the game. Second half was a little better not nowhere near good enough. Not acceptable. "Ultimately the responsibility lies with me and how I prepare the players. I'm more interested in how we play and we were not anywhere near the levels today. Of course they [defeats] hurt me. Not acceptable. Too many losses this year. Too many games getting away from us. It needs to stop.

"No other way of looking at it. If you give up now, there's no point. Right now we have a big game against Everton this weekned. That's our focus.". Captain Son also fronted up to the media and conceded he and his team-mates did not do enough to affect the game, despite his early goal.
