BANK holidays are a great time to get the family together for a BBQ, but don't be caught out by your local supermarket closing early. Some shops and supermarkets reduce hours on public holidays to give staff some much-needed time off and due to trading laws.
That means your local shop may change its hours across many of its stores on the bank holiday on Monday, August 26. Here's everything you need to know about when your favourite supermarket closes on the August bank holiday weekend. If you're looking for a bargain, then few supermarkets are cheaper than Aldi.
Which? has given Aldi the accolade of Cheapest Supermarket of the Year for three years - and says in 2024 it has been the best value every month. Aldi has confirmed standard opening hours across its branches will apply on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25.
Stores in England and Wales will then open until 8pm on August 26 while Scottish branches will close at 10pm as normal. As always, check the supermarket's website to know when your local store will be open. You can find the tool on Aldi's website and just have to enter your postcode or town.
Asda stores are open during the bank holiday weekend. However, your local store's hours may differ depending on location. On August 24, typical store hours will be in place, meaning larger shops generally open their doors between 6am and 10pm or 7am and 11pm on Saturdays.
