Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly will have to undergo a scan on a knee issue and will is a major doubt for the clash with Wolves on Saturday. The teenager picked up the injury during the draw against Aston Villa last weekend, but was able to finish in the game, before it flared up during training on Tuesday afternoon. He couldn't finish the session and was an absentee for the win over Dinamo Zagreb.
Lewis-Skelly has been one of the team's biggest success stories this term and went from a largely unknown quantity for a regular in the starting XI. He's the latest product of the club's academy but could now add to an injury list, which continues to grow.
Arteta said: “I am not sure [if Lewis-Skelly will be fit to face Wolves on Saturday]. He jarred his knee in the game against Villa and he thought it was okay when he finished the game. The next day it wasn’t bad and then yesterday he wasn’t feeling right, and so he started the session and he wasn’t feeling good. So, we need some more tests tomorrow. Hopefully it is nothing big, but the games are coming very fast.”.
Lewis-Skelly has continued to receive huge praise from those around him. Mikel Arteta has hailed his maturity whilst Declan Rice recently sang him praises after the north London derby win. The 18-year-old has kept more established members of the squad out of the starting line-up such have been his performances but he could give Arteta another selection headache with some major names already missing.
William Saliba recently picked up an issue and is going to be out for a fortnight. Further up the pitch and Gabriel Jesus, who picked up an ACL injury at the start of the month, will miss the remainder of the season whilst Bukayo Saka could be out for months.
