ASTON VILLA'S quickfire turnaround ruined Graham Potter's first match as West Ham boss. Lucas Paqueta slotted a shock early opener in this frenetic FA Cup third-round clash, only for Villa sub Amadou Onana and Morgan Rogers to strike midway through the second period.

Paqueta nipped in on just nine minutes to rattle Unai Emery's men. But each side lost a player to injury in the next quarter of an hour amid freezing conditions. Hammers' striker Niklas Fullkrug had to be replaced by Danny Ings. And Onana came on for fellow Villa midfielder Ross Barkley.

Emery's side then finished a scrappy first half on top. But it needed a controversially-awarded corner to help Villa scramble an equaliser on 71 minutes. West Ham keeper Lukasz Fabianski couldn't keep hold of the resulting low stabbed shot from Ian Maatsen and Onana prodded in from a yard - with the visitors protesting furiously.
