Aston Villa vow to BAN fans caught selling seats for their Champions League clash against Celtic to third parties

Aston Villa will ban any supporters found to have sold their seats for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Celtic to third parties. The Scottish giants are expected to be backed by 2,100 inside the ground though there is the potential for many more to travel south without tickets, and seats were being advertised at considerably more than face value on independent websites on Tuesday.

At last week’s Europa League meeting between Manchester United and Rangers, a significant number of away fans appeared to have gained access to home areas. United have promised the 'strongest possible sanctions' for any registered ticket holders who might have helped sell them on.

Celtic supporters will be permitted to collect their tickets at specific points in Glasgow on Tuesday, and in Birmingham on Wednesday. They will also be asked to present photo ID before being issued with their tickets. Villa’s policy reads: ‘Any fans found to be forwarding their ticket for use by visiting supporters will be prevented from purchasing tickets for the rest of the season at least.
