Clubs around Regent's Park in north London say they have seen a real drop-off in cyclists clocking miles in the area after a recent rise of violent robberies.

London cyclists have begged the Met Police to start patrolling Regent’s Park in the early morning after a spate of muggings and hammer attacks.

Regent’s Park hosts more than 30 cycling clubs, many of which meet daily around 5.45am – but the peaceful morning cycles are being interrupted by armed balaclava-clad thieves.

Provan's two victims were a fellow police officer, who he raped six times between 2003 and 2005 and was violent and controlling towards, and a 16-year-old girl who he met through a friend in 2010 and raped while they were on a date.
