Bargain high street chain brings back £1 engagement ring for Valentine’s day as shoppers joke ‘no excuse now’

A BARGAIN high street retailer has brought back its popular £1 engagement rings just in time for Valentine's Day. Shoppers have joked "there's no excuse now", as the retailer lets love birds pop the question on the cheap. Poundland first launched the ring back in 2019, causing a storm of controversy on social media.
But it seems the ring has hit shelves once again by popular demand. The valentines engagement ring range was marketed as a placeholder ring - which allow partners to pick their own engagement ring at a later date, while not missing out on the magical down-on-one-knee moment.
While some thought the cheap jewellery was a great idea, others disagreed and said you shouldn't be able to pick your own engagement ring. The £1 accessories are available in a variety of sizes and colours - including one with a silver band and red stone.
Another has a silver band with a small diamond-looking gem in it. According to Poundland, 20,000 rings were sold in one week the year they first launched. The rings are now back in stores, where they were spotted by the Facebook Bargain Lovers page. The post has already attracted more than 100 likes and 70 comments.
One user said: "Great for those wanting to save up what a good idea. Its about the love, the message. Not the ring". While another added: "I think it’s cute if you want to get engaged but can’t afford the ring right away do it with a quid one then have a target of a few months till you can get a better one".
