Fans from baseball, movies, professional wrestling and more have paid tribute to legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker, who passed away on Thursday morning at age 90. Uecker passed away due to cancer, which was previously not disclosed publicly. He was in line to call his 55th straight season of Milwaukee Brewers baseball this year.
In a world where the word legend might be passed around too liberally, Uecker was an ultimate exception to the rule. Uecker started calling Brewers games before Chipper Jones was born and the Braves' great made his MLB debut in 1993. Outside of the Brewers' booth, Uecker was known for playing Harry Doyle in 'Major League' and serving as the special guest announcer for possibly the biggest professional wrestling match of all-time at WrestleMania III between Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant.
Fans also posted his late-night television appearance with Johnny Carson to social media to show Uecker's comedic side. Fans have paid tribute to broadcaster Bob Uecker, who passed away on Thursday morning. The Brewers legend passed away due to cancer, which was previously not disclosed publicly.
Sports broadcaster Kay Adams posted a black-and-white photo of her and Uecker with the caption, 'absolute legend' with a heart emoji. 'RIP Bob Uecker, a legendary player, broadcaster, and baseball personality who also became a beloved Cleveland sports figure thanks to the movie Major League. He will be missed,' one MLB fan posted alongside the clip of Uecker's famous line, 'Just a bit outside.'.
