BBC Outnumbered fans 'devastated' as they point out the same thing seconds into Christmas special

Outnumbered fans were left saddened by an unexpected detail which was revealed mere seconds into the new festive special for 2024. Eight years after the latest special in 2016, the Brockmans return to our screens to try and have a traditional family Christmas, but Pete (played by Hugh Dennis) will have to break the upsetting news that he’s been diagnosed with cancer.
As his wife Sue (Claire Skinner) tries to rally the festive spirit, their three grown-up kids, Jake (Tyger Drew-Honey), Ben (Daniel Roche) and Karen (Ramona Marquez) have problems of their own. However, fans were all left distracted in the opening moments as it was revealed Pete and Sue had moved house since the last time we saw them.
“IM SO SAD THEY MOVED HOUSE OMG,” one viewer exclaimed on X (formerly Twitter). “Thought the Outnumbered special episode was going to be happy and nostalgic but they've moved house and Pete is dying,” someone else wrote. Another person reacted: “What do you mean they MOVED in outnumbered I don’t like it.”.
“Right. Nah. Why have they moved house,” another angry tweet read. “They moved, I don't like it!” someone else exclaimed, adding a laughing emoji. “The kids have kids, they’ve got a new house and Pete’s got cancer. I can’t cope,” a final fan said.
The Brockmans’ move was apparent within the very first seconds of the episode, which took place outside their house on a totally different street. Despite the rather morbid set-up for this year’s long-awaited return, there was still plenty of laughs to be had in the Outnumbered household.
