Kirsten Ramsay, an expert on BBC's The Repair Shop, had a challenging task ahead of her as she attempted to restore a fragile 18th-century glass item on the show's new spin-off, The Repair Shop On the Road. A clip of Kirsten's painstaking repair process was shared by BBC Scotland on Instagram, with the caption: "Fixing glass is notoriously difficult, and Kirsten definitely feels the pressure of getting such an important object back to looking its best. Repair Shop On The Road is in Scotland and in Ayrshire.".
In the video, Kirsten can be seen applying adhesive to the delicate glass piece, commenting: "It's so damaged and so fragile that I think it will be a real achievement if I get this back together and it's stable again.". Fans were quick to praise Kirsten's skill and patience in the comments section, with one saying: "Kirsten is so skilled, patient and amazing, such a joy to watch! ! " Another fan marvelled at Kirsten's meticulous approach and honed skills, while a third simply gushed: "Kirsten is AMAZING! Such talent and expertise.".
Last year, Kirsten, who specialises in ceramics, revealed one of her most challenging repairs on the BBC show. She indicated: "The objects that come into The Repair Shop, are almost all quite challenging. That's because often people have tried to get them fixed elsewhere and they have been told that they are beyond repair. We are often their last hope.
"The alabaster lampshade that I worked on was so incredibly damaged, it was a tricky fix because it was hoped that it could be used once again as a light, it needed to retain its translucency once bonded and filled, and it was in so many pieces that had been left out in the garden in the snow and the rain sustaining further damage from the elements.
