With just a handful of contestants left on The Traitors ahead of Friday's finale, there's everything to play for on the hit BBC One show. While remaining Traitor Charlotte seems to have the rest of the Faithfuls wrapped around her little finger, there's one major twist that could throw a spanner in the works for the impressive contestant.

In a show first for The Traitors, presenter Claudia Winkleman has introduced a major new role in the game with just hours to go before the final. As teased by Claudia last week, one particular contestant will "win an extraordinary power that could turn the entire game on its head".

However, it wasn't until tonight's (Thursday's) episode that viewers learnt what the twist was. One contestant is getting the chance to become The Seer, which comes with the power of finding out whether one other contestant is a Faithful or a Traitor.

"The Seer has the power to learn one other player's identity," Claudia said. "The Seer will invite one player this evening to a private, face-to-face meeting. That player that they've chosen, will have no choice and must reveal if they are a faithful or a traitor. This power could turn the entire game on its head.".

The role comes from the childhood game of Werewolf, on which The Traitors is based. In that game, The Seer gets to secretly find out one of the player's true identity in order to find the Werewolf. On The Traitors, if the Seer chooses to find out Charlotte's real status in the game, her chance of winning will be seriously hindered - and potentially ruined altogether. With the final taking place tomorrow, The Seer is likely to reveal their findings to the rest of the contestants - but will they believe them?.
