Grossing a staggering $723.2 million so far, Wicked surpassed previous title-holder Mamma Mia!, which grossed $611.5 million, and also knocked another iconic musical out of its top three spot.
In November, movie musical Wicked broke records as it became the highest-grossing movie based on a broadway musical ever.
However, it seems Netflix is giving a whole new generation of musical lovers a chance to fall in love with Grease all over again, as the movie will soon be added to the platform.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, last year’s Wicked is part one of two movies, which expand on the first and second acts of the original 2003 Broadway musical.
The musical romantic comedy follows ‘good girl’ Sandy Olsson and rebel Danny Zuko, who fall in love over the summer.
