After 10 years in operation, the TV channel London Live has aired for the final time. On January 20, the station which covered London news, current affairs, sports, and entertainment, came to an end. They also produced documentaries on the UK capital. Previously found on Sky, Virgin Media and Freeview, the operation ceased at midnight.
Many of the presenters said their own goodbyes, thanking the viewers for joining them for the past decade. Sharing a clip of head of news Tanya Francis’ last address on their official Instagram, the account wrote: ‘That’s a wrap. ‘We would like to thank you for supporting London Live over the last 10 years. It’s been an incredible 10 years covering the stories that matter in the capital and making sure the all voices in our community are heard.
‘It’s sadly time to say a final goodbye, from midnight on Sunday 19th January we will be off air but want to say a huge thank you and goodbye.’. On the show, Tanya said: ‘When this channel started ten years ago, it looked very different to how it does today but what has remained throughout is the spirit of keeping local news alive, and our passion for telling the stories that count, and giving the voices in our community that matter a platform to be heard.
‘Our industry is facing huge struggles,’ she honestly shared. ‘People don’t sit on their sofa at home and watch the news like they used to. We’re losing the ability to be able to communicate in this way as technology and social media dominate the arena.’ Tanya then encouraged viewers to continue sharing the opinions, and to make sure that the right people tell the news in the future.
