Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor's daughter has made a big move in her acting career. Ella Stiller, 22, has landed a off-Broadway role in New York City, according to a Tuesday report from People. The blonde thespian has joined the cast of Before This New Year, a play by Liana Sonenclar. She will costar with Emily Carey (HBO's House of the Dragon) and Kaci Walfall (CW's Naomi). Also new to the cast is Arjun Biju, Pete Simpson and Melanie Nicholls-King.
The director is Knud Adams who is best known for Broadway's English. The play is about a former high school track star Alison Bennett (Walfall), who comes home for the holidays after her first semester of college and catches up with her former teammate Haley (Carey). Ella earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Juilliard in June 2024. They start to talk about the past and feelings dominate their conversations. Performances begin March 19 and run through May 11 at The Duke on 42nd Street in New York City. Opening night is set for April 4. Ella - who graduated from the Juilliard School with a BFA in acting in June 2024 - comes from an acting dynasty. Not only are her parents Ben and Christine but her grandparents are famous too: grandpa is the late Jerry Stiller and his wife is Anne Meara.
They were a comedy team in the 1960s called Stiller and Meara. Ella has already acted in the 2018 limited series Escape at Dannemora (directed by her dad), Adam Sandler's 2020 hit Hubie Halloween, an uncredited appearance in 2014's Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and as a voice actor in 2010's Megamind. The family was seen at the 2024 French Open at Roland Garros in Paris in June. The three looked thrilled as they sat in the VIP section of the arena side by side.
Ben and Christine met while she was auditioning for the 1999 thriller, Heat Vision and Jack. 'My wife came in to audition for the role of the sexy sheriff. She had been in the Brady Bunch movies and they were pushing her on me. She came in and she was great,' he told the outlet. The family was seen at the 2024 French Open at Roland Garros in Paris in June. The three looked thrilled as they sat in the VIP section of the arena side by side.
Ella looks a lot like her famous mother Christine who was in The Brady Bunch movie. The couple tied the knot in 2000 at a destination wedding in Hawaii. They welcomed their daughter, Ella, in 2002, and their son, Quinlin, three years later in 2005. The couple have had the opportunity to appear in multiple projects together, such as Zoolander (2001) and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004). In 2016, Ben recalled he and Taylor entered their relationship when they were 'both on the rebound.'.
They ended up jumping in and 'got married pretty quickly.'. 'I was single. I'd come out of a long relationship with [actress] Jeanne Tripplehorn,' he told Parade. 'Christine was coming out of a relationship too. We went on a date and it clicked.'. Ben and Christine split in 2017 after 17 years of marriage. But they got back together in 2022. In 2023, Taylor detailed why she and Ben rekindled their marriage during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic after a five year split.
The actress made her comments on The Drew Barrymore Show. Christine told her Wedding Singer castmate that during the pandemic she and Ben put on a united front along with their two children: Ella and 18-year-old Quinlin. She explained: 'We always stayed a family unit. So when the pandemic hit and we all had to figure out where to hunker down, we all ended up in our house together with two teenagers and we found this way back.
'We had so much time to talk, there were no other distractions... It just happened organically.'. Stiller and Taylor with Ella and Quinlin in 2016; Ella was a brunette then. Christine also touched on the beginning of their relationship as she said that she and Ben 'knew each other six months, got engaged, were married within a year, then had [daughter Ella] the next year. 'Family was always a priority, but I think Ben and I both started to grow in different directions. And when we made the decision to separate, it was not something we wanted to talk publicly about or took lightly.'.
Regarding the time that they separated Christine said they 'were at this impasse of, 'Let's figure this out — what's best at this chapter in our lives?' That's going back three or four years. And [during] that time apart, we got to know who we are. 'I think we have these growth spurts, even as adults. And we needed time to figure that out.'.
