A charity founded by Beyoncé has announced an LA fires relief fund and a $2.5million donation. Fires began in parts of Los Angeles on Tuesday last week and have devastated the state in the days since. The death toll has already reached double figures and thousands of homes are believed to have been damaged in the region.

The ongoing blazes have prompted reaction from a number of celebrities - some of whom live in southern California - and there have been fundraising efforts for people affected. BeyGOOD - established by Beyoncé, 43, in 2013 - announced its own LA Fire Relief Fund on Tuesday morning.

The charity has shared that the relief fund aims to help families in Altadena and Pasadena, which are two areas that have been affected by the fires. It suggested that the fund has been set-up with a donation of $2.5 million - roughly £2 million. The news was shared with fans by BeyGOOD through its Instagram account. The post began: "Los Angeles we stand with you. BeyGOOD is taking action by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund with a donation of 2.5 million dollars.".

The charity went on to discuss its aim for the funds, stating that it will support families who have lost their homes, as well as community centres and churches. It said: "The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires. To show your support for the impacted families and to learn more about BeyGOOD's mission, please visit https://beygood.org.".
