Blackpool Tower lights up in pink to honour the late Linda Nolan as star dies after 20-year breast cancer battle

Blackpool Tower lit up in pink as the city paid tribute to the late singer Linda Nolan on Wednesday. The beloved Irish performer, best known for her time in The Nolans, passed away at 65 after battling cancer on and off for two decades. Although she was born in Dublin, Linda rose to fame in Blackpool alongside her sisters when they formed their iconic band in 1974.
She later made the seaside city her home - and it was there she spent her final days. To celebrate her life, Blackpool paid a heartfelt tribute by illuminating its iconic tower in pink, complete with a glowing heart near the base. Sharing a photo of the tower on social media, Visit Blackpool penned: 'Our thoughts are with the family, friends and fans of showbiz legend, Linda Nolan, who sadly passed away earlier today.

Linda was first diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer in 2005 before getting the all-clear in 2006 - but in 2017 she was diagnosed with a form of incurable secondary cancer in her hip, which spread to her liver in 2020. Three years later she shared the news that the cancer had spread to her brain, with two tumours discovered on the left side of her brain which left her struggling with her speech and balance.
