A 13-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a Coles supermarket worker at an Ipswich shopping centre. Queensland police said the teen had allegedly approached the Coles employee at the Yamanto Central shopping centre in Ipswich, south-west of Brisbane, on Monday evening.

Members of the public held on to the teenager until police arrived. Police said officers had given first aid to the injured woman before she was taken to Princess Alexandra hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
