Reynhard Sinaga, 41, was caged for 159 sex offences, including 136 rapes, after plying 48 male victims with drug-laced booze.
But Indonesian officials have offered British diplomats a prisoner swap for him, after talks with Sinaga’s wealthy parents.
An Indonesian government spokesman said yesterday: “We have asked his parents if they would agree, and they cried, wanting their child to come back.”.
Yusril Ihza Mahendra, a senior minister for law and human rights affairs, said: “No matter how wrong a citizen is, the country has the obligation to defend its citizen.”.
