Call the Midwife season 14: Release date, plot and returning cast

Season 14 of Call the Midwife has begun and it has been confirmed that season 15 will also head into production. The two seasons will move the BBC show into the 1970s as it continues telling the stories of nurses and midwives working in east London. A number of regular cast members are returning and they’ll be joined by new faces too.

Trouble is unfortunately ahead for Violet Buckle, now the mayor of Tower Hamlets while another storyline will see a pregnant teenage girl in need of support, in the face of parents who believe immaculate conception.
In the trailer, Violet (played by Annabelle Apsion) discovers “trouble on her own doorstep" while attempting to calm people down after protests on the Isle of Dogs. Meanwhile, Trixie Franklin (Helen George) will face major challenges as she step into a new management role at Nonnatus House.
It’s not all strife, though. The BBC has revealed an image showing an engagement ring being placed on someone’s finger - but who will it be?. Call The Midwife’s latest series will see all of the recent series regulars return, including the nuns and midwives of Nonnatus House, as well as the likes of Dr Turner and his family, and Cyril Robinson.
