Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has snubbed YouTube boxer Jake Paul after it was confirmed that the Mexican superstar has agreed on a four-fight deal with Saudi Arabia's Riyadh Season. His new deal will include a mega-fight against the former undisputed light-welterweight and welterweight champion Terence Crawford in September. Previously, it was understood that Alvarez and Paul were close to finalising their crossover fight, but according to Saudi's boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, the Mexican has taken another bout with an unknown opponent in May.

Earlier this week, the Mexican's deal with Crawford appeared to have collapsed after he reportedly entered discussions with Paul.
On Monday, 'The Problem Child' even published an X post hinting at the potential fight date with Alvarez. 'It’s time. Sat July 5th. New York, New York,' he wrote. Paul has a well-known history of calling out Canelo on various occasions. Last year, following his bout with Ryan Bourland, Paul told the four-weight world champion to 'stop ducking' him. The American has not fought since his controversial win against former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson in November, defeating the boxing legend via a unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Alvarez - with 66 fights and 62 wins - was last seen in a boxing ring in his victory over Edgar Berlanga in September last year. According to Ring Magazine, Canelo and Riyadh Season's deal includes a fight in Riyadh in May, a mega clash in Las Vegas with Terence Crawford in September, and two more boxing matches in Riyadh in February and October 2026. His next opponent, Crawford, remains undefeated with 41 wins, including 31 via knockout.
