Carette, a renowned Parisian café, has recently gained viral attention for its signature hot chocolate. Situated in the heart of Paris, it has become a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists. However, my experience there was a blend of delight and frustration.

Carette's hot chocolate is often hailed as the best in Paris, and I have to admit, after tasting it for myself, the reputation is well-earned. The moment the cup was placed in front of me, I was immediately struck by its velvety richness and thick, indulgent texture. It’s not the watery, thin hot chocolate you might get at other cafés; this one feels like a warm hug, a deep, satisfying drink that truly lives up to the "decadent" description. Each sip is a perfect balance of chocolatey richness with just enough sweetness to keep you coming back for more.

It's not bitter at all, and the whipped cream? Delicious and creamy. The café doesn’t skimp on portions either - when you order, a jug that looks small at first actually fills two cups, which is perfect if you're sharing or just really into your hot chocolate. The whipped cream comes in a big silver bowl or cup, giving it that extra little touch of luxe.

Despite its undeniable charm and popularity, the café’s appeal is tempered by the challenges of its first-come, first-served system. With no option to reserve a table, patrons face the daunting prospect of a wait that often stretches around the block, a testament to its cult-like following. During my visit, I spent nearly two hours shivering in the cold, questioning whether any coffee or pastry could truly warrant such a commitment. While the café delivers on ambiance and flavor, the experience teetered uncomfortably between indulgence and endurance.
