While trying to catch it, the cat moved to the back of main electrical and equipment bay through air-stair compartment.
Cargo panels were removed by engineers to no avail so a door was left open, and the cat was eventually filmed cautiously padding down the steps.
An official report into the chaos last week said: “During pre-flight check a cat’s sound was heard.
It was located in an electrical bay but then retreated into the wiring, meaning the Boeing 737 could not leave the airport in Rome.
