The Chorley-born fighter has made light work of both Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis of late, building up a head of steam and finally moving on from the controversy in his defeat against Taylor almost three years ago now.
A shot at current champion Teofimo Lopez and the WBO super-lightweight title is on the line in Manchester, with ‘El Gato’ finally closing in on what could be the biggest night of his career.
However, a cynical view may suggest that neither Taylor or Prograis had too much to give at this stage of their careers, albeit that does feel slightly harsh.
