Celtic looking at other loan options for left-back after Arsenal block a January move for Kieran Tierney

Arsenal have blocked a Kieran Tierney move to Celtic before the close of the transfer window. The Scotland defender will sign a pre-contract agreement to return to Parkhead on a four year deal in the summer. With Alex Valle recalled and sent to Como by Barcelona, however, Celtic hoped to find a compromise allowing Tierney to return to Glasgow on loan until the permanent contract kicked in.
With Ukrainian left back Oleksandr Zinchenko a target for Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal have now told Tierney he is going nowhere. Keen to make a push for the Premier League and Champions League, Mikel Arteta has Riccardo Califiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly available to play left-back, but has brought Tierney off the bench in recent weeks.
Effectively a free agent, Tierney attracted interest from Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla, Juventus and Everton when Arsenal passed on the option of adding another 12 months to a contract which lapses this summer. Keen to return home to be closer to family, the defender will take a substantial pay-cut to rejoin Celtic in the summer.
Mikel Arteta wants to keep hold of Kieran Tierney until the summer despite Celtic interest. Celtic are now considering a proposal for Manchester United's Tyrell Malacia. With Greg Taylor their last recognised left-back, Celtic are assessing options for a loan until the summer.
