Finding new uses for things is much better than throwing them away needlessly. This doesn't mean hoarding things unnecessarily, but if you can use it for something genuinely handy, then why not?. That's why one chef recommended that you don't throw away your peanut butter jar when you've finished with it, because it can be turned into something truly tasty, and amazing, that can elevate any dish you're making.
We've all been there with a peanut butter jar - we've scraped the edges with a spoon and a knife, and no more will come out for us to devour, so it just gets chucked in the bin, despite the fact that there are still little bits of peanut butter all around the jar. But Carleigh Bodrug, who shares vegan recipes and lifestyle tips on her YouTube channel, said that you should "never throw out a peanut butter jar" and should do this with it instead.
Instead of chucking it into your recycling bin, Carleigh recommended that you add some more ingredients to it, to make a peanut butter-based sauce. "You should add soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sriracha, fresh ginger and lime juice to the jar," she said. "Give it a good shake and get anything left over in that jar, and then you've got perfect low-waste peanut sauce.". Carleigh said her "favourite way to serve this up is in a peanut noodle salad," which contains red cabbage, cilantro, cucumber, bell pepper, mint, carrot, green onion, tofu, noodles - and of course, the all-important ingredient, the peanut butter-based sauce.
She added: "It is loaded with so many veggies and is great for meal prep," she shared, saying that it's important that "nothing goes to waste". In the comments, people praised her for trying to do what's best for the planet. One wrote: "Yay to eliminating food waste!! I think it’s great that you’re sharing recipes that will help the planet and people's wallets!". Another penned: "I had a jar of almost gone peanut butter on my counter for so long in order to finally try this recipe. The sauce is so good! I made a similar salad to go with it. I used honey instead of maple syrup.
"This was the only short I found that didn't say to make overnight oats, protein shakes, or some dessert with the leftover peanut butter in the jar...which I appreciate!". Somebody else described the recipe as "so damn good," sharing: "I have made it at least four times since seeing this video".
