Chelsea star was AXED from squad for Fulham defeat by furious Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca admitted Chelsea shot themselves in the foot after revealing Noni Madueke was axed from the squad. Maresca watched in horror as Chelsea surrendered a first half lead as Fulham staged a late comeback to enjoy their first win at Stamford Bridge in 1979. Marseca was brutally honest about his team’s failings after the defeat and refused to make excuses for England winger Madueke’s absence from the squad.
Madueke was axed last month after Maresca said his levels had dropped in training and this time the Chelsea boss said not picking him was a “technical decision.”. Maresca said: “It's a bad feeling. When you cannot win, it is important you do not lose. We conceded too many transitions. We gave them energy. It's a shame. One of the things that we could do better is the game management. Fulham are a team that if you want to attack quick it becomes a basketball game and it’s not for us. We have to control it better.”.
It underlined Maresca’s view that Chelsea are not ready to win the title but the Italian insisted that defeat not alter his view. Maresca added: “I said the same when we win a game. I said not because we win tonight we are ready and not because we lose tonight. It’s more the feeling we have inside and the reality we have inside that we can do better. One of the things is game management.”.
