Rescue chicken Billie Jean’s sense of adventure started in the garden of its home, The Railway Inn at the village of Cam in Gloucestershire. The family who’ve owned the pub for the last 30 years are no stranger to housing chickens and ducks, having looked after them for years.
However, they were left shocked by Billie Jean’s independence, only two months of looking after her. Lucy Brimble , bartender for The Railway Inn, recalls times where Billie has followed pubgoers for miles. ‘I’ve had locals tell me that Billie followed them to school when they take their kids there, and have to walk Billie back before she gets into a predicament’.
The landlady Sharron also noticed Billie’s thirst for exploration. ‘We’ve had a few comments on Facebook saying that they were worried about Billie Jean crossing the road.’. ‘So, we decided to get her a high viz jacket.’.
