Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) is startled to hear some shocking news about her Christmas Day attacker in EastEnders this week. We’re all counting down the days until the culprit’s identity is exposed, which is set to be the centrepiece of the BBC soap’s 40th anniversary celebrations next month.
Viewers will remember that the controversial legend was whacked around the head with a snow shovel last month and subsequently has been placed in a medically induced coma. In the hours leading up to the incident, she had cut off her entire family and was planning to leave Walford forever.
Her affair with former step-son Junior Knight (Micah Balfour), and adoration for ex-husband George Knight (Colin Salmon) had also been exposed, leaving her partner Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) devastated. In this week’s episodes, word spreads around that Cindy has been woken up from her coma, and not everybody is happy!.
She has a lot of questions relating to the incident, but son Peter (Thomas Law) is reluctant to talk about it and changes the subject. Cindy also puts on a tough front to Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), who she was in a bitter feud with in the weeks leading up to her accident.
She’d been supplying Lauren with drugs to help with the pain from injuries sustained during the nightclub mass crushing, initially unaware that she was pregnant. DCI Arthurs (Ian Burfield) is first on the case to chat with Cindy about what she remembers, hopeful that he can finally get some crucial evidence that will help solve the crime.
