Comedian and Notre Dame fan Shane Gillis revealed as ESPN College Gameday guest before Indiana playoff

Comedian and obsessed Notre Dame fan Shane Gillis will be the special guest picker on ESPN's College Game Day in South Bend ahead of Friday night's College Football Playoff opener against Indiana. The program typically does remote broadcasts from the biggest college games in the country, where celebrities often give their picks for the menu of games on any given week. Earlier this month it was Timothee Chalamet who joined Rees Davis, Lee Corso, Pat McAfee & Co. before the SEC Championship.
And Gillis could not have picked a better time to make a guest appearance on ESPN. With snow already accumulating in South Bend, traffic began piling up on the local interstate as much as 14 hours before the scheduled kickoff for the highly anticipated game.
It's also the first game of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff as the Fighting Irish are hoping to win their first national title since 1988. Head coach Marcus Freeman spent his first two seasons as the Notre Dame coach chasing the playoff dream.
This year, he's living it — at home. Shane Gillis is seen alongside Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard earlier this season. Indiana will play Notre Dame and head coach Marcus Freeman three hours from campus. After closing the regular season on a 10-game winning streak and getting two weeks to prepare for the most meaningful postseason game of his career, Freeman is finally ready to lead the seventh-seeded Fighting Irish against 10th-seeded Indiana on Friday.
'We've been in the playoffs since Week 3,' Freeman said, alluding to their postseason hopes following the stunning loss to Northern Illinois. 'Every game we play is a version of a playoff game in our minds. We have to continue to understand that you don't have any more added pressure than you've had the previous 10.'.
