Cops launch murder probe after woman, 43, found dead in flat and cause of death ruled as ‘blunt force trauma’

COPS have launched a murder investigation after a 43-year-old woman was found dead in a flat. The grim discovery was made at a property in Woolwich, southeast London, on Friday afternoon. A post mortem gave cause of death as blunt force trauma and head injury.

Police were called to the address in Argyll Road at around 5.25pm following concerns for the welfare of the occupant. Officers gained entry to the property and found a woman, aged 43, who was deceased. Next of kin has been informed, however police say it awaits formal identification.

DCI Suzanne Soren, Specialist Crime South, said: "This is a deeply tragic incident and are thoughts are very much with the victim’s family who are being supported by specialist officers. "At this early stage we believe the suspect was known to the victim and we are carrying out urgent enquiries to trace a named individual.".
