Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover stunt ‘confirmed’ as huge clue is spotted

Fans of Coronation Street and Emmerdale reckon they’ve worked out what next year’s stunt, said to have never been done before, will entail. It was confirmed earlier this week that both serial dramas, staples of ITV’s evening schedule for decades, will reduce their weekly episodes by one each from January 2026. According to audience research, it was found that 30 minute episodes attracted higher audience figures throughout 2024, and as a result, a new broadcast pattern will be adopted.

Emmerdale will air Monday to Friday from 8pm, with Coronation Street following on the same days at 8:30pm in what has been dubbed as a ‘soap power hour.’. When the changes are implemented come January, both soaps will mark their new eras with never seen before stunts in a week of special episodes. Corrie and Emmerdale are experts when it comes to stunt storylines so the week in question will no doubt be unmissable for both serial dramas.

A number of social media users reckon they’ve worked out what the twist could be, wondering if perhaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street will crossover with one another during the week in question.

‘Interestingly worded’, wrote Scarlett on X formerly Twitter in regards to the ‘ambitious, never-before-been-seen’ part of the announcement. I’ can’t be the only one who is reading this as one stunt in both shows right? It’d be quite a clever move as Corrie and Emmerdale would share fans who’d want to see the story from both sides if it happens.’. Fan account Corrie Art, meanwhile, had a similar theory. ‘Could the ‘stunt’ be a Corrie-Emmerdale crossover episode?’ they said, while Jamie added: ‘Could you imagine if what they’re talking about with the stunt stuff next January is #Corrie and #Emmerdale in the same universe?.
